Awesome

This is the only way to describe Alaska. On Saturday I went on a six hour boat ride to see wildlife, mountains, and some glaciers. We saw some amazing caving (the ice cracking and breaking) It sounds like thunder. When you're a half mile away, it takes a little bit to hear it. This is the tip of the proverbial iceberg of experience. I saw puffins, for example. They look pretty pathetic when they are flying. We also saw some sterling sea-lions. And orca. Killer whales. And porpoise. When you are seeing them directly beneath you, you know life has a porpoise. Heh heh. It was my first venture on a real vessel, and I only felt sea sick for a few minuets. Later that day we hiked up to a glacier. Exit glacier, to be exact, Google it. I went up and touched it. We were pretty tired after that. A few days later, we went bowling. On Saturday, the people who we went bowling with came over, and we saw Forbidden Kingdom (the movie with Jet Li and Jackie Chan). It's pretty good. Yesterday, we went red salmon fishing at the Kenai River. It was at my aunt's friend's cabin off of the river. I had the best salmon ever, the wild red salmon. you can't get it in Chicago. It's delicious. the method of catching it is really interesting too. Since the fish are swimming close to the bank and near the bottom, you don't cast, you extend the line until it's the right length and toss it down stream and let it float down the river. The fish swim upstream but don't actively search for food. They open and close their mouths, hoping to randomly catch food. Their sheer numbers are the only reason the style works. The only possible way to make that say better was to have s'mores, and catch a fish. I had s'mores. Only my uncle caught a fish.

Alaska

Hey guys, sorry I haven't posted in a while, I just really wanted those pictures. I have them now, so expect them on a sidebar after I'm done with the post. I've been having a lot of fun here in Alaska, but I haven't built up enough energy to stay up until midnight(when dark begins). I miss you guys at home, and I wish you well. as for what I've been doing, yesterday I went downtown and had reindeer sausage! I saw some really cool stuff, because with 30,000 people( half of the state's population), Anchorage is the biggest city in Alaska. Big cities always attract tourism, which generates tourist shops. We have gone to an off leash dog park every day so far ( my uncle has 3 dogs, Chico, Kiddo, and Troubles.). Yesterday we went to one circling a lake, and Troubles as swimming. The other dogs swam too, but only when the tennis ball was thrown in the water. Or if a rock was thrown. they would swim back only half way through. Troubles learned to swim last Saturday, the day before I arrived. My uncle likes to let Chico, a big energetic dog into my room to wake me up. The day I arrived, we went to the mountains near by, and played around. We went up a little further, and saw a big pile of snow. It's July here too, only with more sun and less heat. For those of you curious of how my first flight went, here are some details. It was 6 hours, and while that may seem a lot to you, my family drives to Des Moins Iowa, about a six hour drive, every year. It was like that, only with more leg room, a movie, and complimentary drinks. Not much else has happened here, but I might go on a cruise tomorrow to see the wild life. Hopefully, I will see a whale. I still have my self proposed responsibilities, so I do have today's website.

today's youtube is hilarious. Did any of you ever watch sesame street? have you seen the song of the count? Imagine that, only with all the words count (except his name) bleeped out. this is the result. something interesting about count the count, though, is that his obsession with counting may be based in fact. People used to hang fishing nets in front of their doors, so the vampire would be forced to stop and count the knots.

I am back from camping, from eating campfire cooked meals, from canoing 15 miles down the river, from getting the first mosquito bite that elevates to covering my legs., from getting lost and being stabbed by a tree. Home. when I say stabbed by a tree, I'm not kidding. It had 4 inch long spikes growing in clusters all over it. It was my brother who got stabbed.

Farming

Sorry it's been so long since I posted. School's out, and I can't keep track of time. it was 12:30 before I realized it was Wednesday, not Tuesday. Also, I spent all of my time farming for gold, in Dragonfable. Today is the second birth day of the game, and they released a new thing for 20,000 gold that I really wanted. i had a bout 1,000 gold. Farming in an online RPG is essentially doing the same quest over and over and over, for items, gold and/or experience. It can last for days on end. I am at 9,538, close enough to 10,000 for me to be comfortable with the idea of getting off and finishing off tomorrow, but not at the point of giving up for the day willingly.

Metroid and summer

Here I am, sitting at the desk, listening to Led Zeppelin's stairway to heaven, while time passes by, oblivious to the pleas of man. Another year gone. Some lost, much gained. More learned than forgotten, and challenges abound. Opportunities, some taken, some ignored, with later regret, and some planed upon being seized, but forgotten or lost. Yes time has it's toll on man. Everything changes, for better, or worse no one knows.

How was that? I tried some classic style pondering there. Was I unconsciously ripping off of a famous author? Leave a comment or something.

School is out. over. I still can't fully comprehend it. Partly because I still feel like I have a project to get done, partly because of the heat. Agghh the heat. It makes me greatly uncomfortable. I am so glad I am going to Alaska. This is part of why I will be talking about Alaska.(you thought I lived there? silly peasant, I meant what I said) You can only imagine how i feel about this. The weather! the dogs! The wildlife! The mountains! The lack of chores! I've never seen mountains. Stupid Midwest. Flat as a board. fishing

today I went fishing with my friend *****. He's supposed to be the best fisher in the area, but I caught three fish, and he caught none. Of course, luck has a lot to do with fishing, and I have a lot of luck. I caught two large small mouth bass, and a baby one. I caught one big one with a meal worm, and the other two with a lure. *** was also there, and he caught none as well. After that we played a couple of old Atari games on his ps2(yes he is not next gen yet). While I gave him an all around beating, and then I had to go home. Today's website is Addictinggames.com. As any one who knows me would know, I am a blog n00b. Anyone subscribing should know that because I don't always have internet access, I will definitely not get to post every week, and I will not always have interesting stuff on. I will not lie(except for the name Jim Bobway. That's a pseudonym) . the subjects i sill use are cats, video games, fantasy, books, technology, food, various sites that interest me and Alaska (why Alaska? because it's cool).
